The IIID Global Student Initiative
In 2024 the Institute has been leading a new initiative to inspire students to become more involved with information design. Our goal is to help create the next generation of information designers and leaders in the field.
IIID Studio is a themed student project that takes place during a 3-4 month period (one semester) leading up to a virtual public presentation with feedback from experts in the field. Student teams also get to display a banner at the international VisionPlus conference.
The opportunity is offered to students with a faculty advisor from around the world to address the impact of information design on their lives.
The first inaugural initiative challenged how information design enters and influences student understanding of health care. Students chose how to interpret the project theme in the areas of access, availability, scheduling, treatment, billing and insurance, and decision making.
